Knife Maintenance

Congratulations on your purchase. We trust that your knife will provide you with a lifetime of happiness!
- Do not pry, dig or chop with your knife. Especially with the
tip as this is the most fragile part which was not designed for these purposes. - Do not throw your knife unless it was designed as throwing
knives. - Do not store your knife in its leather sheath if not in use.
Only when on your person. - Stainless, Carbon or Damascus steel will rust if not
properly cared for. Oil or wax your blade after use and before storing. - Olive oil can be used on Kitchen knives.
- Do not use oil with silicon in it as this will cause rust.
Gun oil or wax must rather be used. - Never put your knife in the dishwasher.
- Wood handles can be treated with furniture wax.
- Do not leave your knife and sheath in direct sunlight or
heat as ultraviolet light oxidizes woods which takes the colour out of them.
Heat also takes the protective oils out of wood and weakens the adhesive bond.
Knife sheaths will start cracking and dulling if left in the son over time. - For long storage of your knife store with the sheath and not
in the sheath as leather has many chemicals which will cause rust on your
blade. - Rather send your knife to JRK for sharpening as the edge
have been specially designed for the intended purpose of the knife. Other
sharpening devices might not give you the required result.
